How Depop fees work

Two charges typically come out of a Depop sale. The selling fee has traditionally been 10% of the item price plus the shipping you charge the buyer. On top of that, the payment processing fee for Depop Payments runs around 3.3% of the total plus $0.45 per order, though the exact rate varies by country and payment method. Both fees are calculated on the full amount the buyer pays, so charging $5 for shipping raises your fees too.

Why every fee field is editable

Marketplace fees change often โ€” Depop dropped the 10% selling fee for US sellers in July 2024 and replaced it with a buyer-side marketplace fee, while sellers in other regions kept the classic structure. So every rate here is an input: set the selling fee to 0 to model a US sale, match your local processing rate, or add a boost percentage on top. Fee figures are approximate defaults you can edit โ€” check Depop's current fee page for your country, and treat results as estimates only, not financial advice. Everything runs in your browser; nothing you type is uploaded anywhere.

How to use it

  1. Enter the item price and the shipping you charge the buyer.
  2. Add your item cost โ€” what you paid for the piece plus packaging โ€” to see true profit.
  3. Adjust the selling and processing fees to match your country or your latest sales receipt.
  4. Read your net payout, total fees, profit, and effective fee rate โ€” they update as you type.

FAQ

Does Depop take fees on shipping?
Yes. Both the selling fee and the payment processing fee are calculated on the item price plus shipping, so the postage you charge the buyer is not fee-free money.
Did Depop really remove the selling fee?
For US sellers, yes โ€” since July 2024 the 10% seller fee is gone and buyers pay a marketplace fee at checkout instead. Set the selling fee to 0 to model a US sale.
Is the net payout my profit?
No. Net payout is what Depop deposits before your own costs. Enter your item cost to subtract it, and remember that shipping labels you buy and taxes come out of profit too.
How do boosted listings change the math?
Boosting adds roughly an extra 8% fee when a sale comes from a boosted placement. Add it to the selling fee percentage to see the boosted version of your payout.
