Etsy Profit Calculator
Find out what you actually keep from each Etsy sale — every fee is applied exactly the way Etsy charges it, and every assumption is editable.
📖 How it works & FAQHow Etsy fees actually stack up
Every Etsy sale gets charged from several directions at once: a $0.20 listing fee (billed again as a renewal each time an item sells), a 6.5% transaction fee, and a payment processing fee of roughly 3% plus $0.25 for US sellers. The part most sellers miss is that the transaction and processing fees apply to your full order total — item price plus shipping charged — not just the item price. This calculator applies each fee the same way Etsy does, then subtracts your product cost and actual postage, so the net profit shown is what really lands in your pocket.
Offsite Ads: the fee that surprises sellers
If a sale comes through Etsy's Offsite Ads program, Etsy takes another 15% of the order total (12% once your shop passes $10,000 in trailing 12-month sales, at which point the ads become mandatory). On a $30 order that is $4.50 gone in one line — plenty of products that look profitable on paper lose money on ad-attributed sales. Toggle the Offsite Ads field to check both versions of your margin before you set a price.
How to use it
- Enter your item price and the shipping you charge the buyer.
- Add your product cost (materials or print-on-demand base cost) and what the shipping label actually costs you.
- Pick whether the sale came from Offsite Ads.
- Adjust the fee fields if your country's rates differ — every assumption is editable.
- Read your net profit, margin %, and full fee breakdown live as you type.

FAQ
- Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?
- Yes. Both the transaction fee and the processing fee are calculated on item price plus shipping (and gift wrap, if any), so raising shipping by $1 is treated exactly like raising the item price by $1.
- Is the $0.20 listing fee really per sale?
- Effectively, yes. You pay $0.20 to list, and with auto-renew on, another $0.20 each time the item sells — so one listing fee per sale is the right way to model it.
- My processing fee isn't 3% + $0.25 — what now?
- Etsy Payments rates vary by country, and VAT can apply to fees in some regions. Edit the processing % and fixed-fee fields to match your own statement.
- What's a healthy Etsy margin?
- Many sellers target a 25-40% net margin after all fees, leaving room for sales events, coupons, and the occasional Offsite Ads order without dipping negative.
