This tool measures the time between a start time and an end time and tells you exactly how long you worked. Enter when you clocked in and when you clocked out, and it returns the result two ways: as hours and minutes (like 7h 30m) and as decimal hours (like 7.50). Decimal hours are what most payroll systems and timesheets actually multiply by your pay rate, so having both saves you a conversion step.
Crossing midnight and unpaid breaks
If your end time is earlier on the clock than your start time โ say you start at 22:00 and finish at 06:00 โ the calculator assumes the shift ran overnight and adds the extra day automatically, so overnight and graveyard shifts come out right. You can also enter an unpaid break in minutes (lunch, for example), and those minutes are subtracted from the total before the hours are shown. Everything runs in your browser; nothing you type is uploaded or saved.

FAQ
- How do I turn hours and minutes into decimal hours?
- Divide the minutes by 60 and add them to the hours. 7 hours 30 minutes becomes 7 + 30/60 = 7.50. The tool shows both so you don't have to.
- Does it handle shifts that go past midnight?
- Yes. If the end time is earlier than the start time, it assumes the shift crossed midnight and adds 24 hours, so overnight totals are correct.
- Are my hours sent anywhere?
- No. All the math happens locally in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, tracked, or stored.
- Can I use this for a weekly timesheet?
- Calculate each shift, note the decimal hours, and add them up for the week. This is a quick estimate โ always check the totals against your employer's official payroll rules.
