Same price, seven very different payouts
Every marketplace slices a sale differently. Etsy takes a 6.5% transaction fee plus a $0.20 listing fee, then payment processing of 3% plus $0.25 โ 9.5% plus $0.45 all in. eBay charges roughly a 13.25% final value fee plus $0.30 per order. Amazon’s referral fee is 15% in most categories. Poshmark keeps 20%, or a flat $2.95 on sales under $15. Mercari combines a 10% selling fee with 2.9% plus $0.50 processing, Depop works out to about 10% plus 3.3% and $0.45 processing, and Facebook Marketplace takes 10% on shipped orders. Type one sale price and this calculator runs each formula, then ranks every platform by net payout so you can see at a glance where the same item leaves the most money in your pocket.
The fee figures are approximate defaults you can edit โ rates change often and vary by category, store level, and country, so check each platform’s current fee page; estimates only, not financial advice.

- Adjust any fee field to match reality โ your eBay store rate, your Amazon category, or a changed Poshmark threshold โ and the ranking reorders instantly.
FAQ
- Why doesn’t this include shipping?
- To compare platforms fairly, the math runs on item price alone. Note that eBay, Etsy, Mercari, and Depop also charge fees on buyer-paid shipping, so if you charge for postage the real gaps can widen further.
- Should I always sell where fees are lowest?
- Not necessarily. A 90% payout on a platform where your item never sells is worth less than an 80% payout where it sells in a day. Use the ranking to price smartly on each platform, not only to pick one.
- Why is Poshmark so far behind on cheap items?
- The flat $2.95 fee on sales under $15 is brutal at low prices โ on a $5 sale it is 59% of the price. At $15 and up the 20% commission takes over, which is still the largest percentage cut here.
- Are these the exact current fees?
- They are widely used baseline rates, but platforms adjust fees and some depend on category, seller level, or promotions. Every figure is an editable input, so paste in the numbers from your latest sales receipt for a tighter estimate.
