๐ How it works & FAQMake QR codes instantly, right in your browser
This free QR code generator turns any text, link, Wi-Fi note, phone number, or short message into a scannable QR code the moment you type it. Everything happens locally on your device โ the text you enter is never sent to a server, stored, or logged, which makes it safe for private links, internal URLs, and anything you would rather keep to yourself. There are no sign-ups, no watermarks, and no limits on how many codes you create.
Sizes, colors & error correction
Choose an output from 128 to 1024 pixels โ larger sizes print more cleanly on posters, packaging, and product inserts. Custom foreground and background colors let you match a brand, though you should keep strong contrast (dark modules on a light background) so scanners can still read the code. The error-correction setting controls how much of the code can be damaged or covered and still scan: L survives about 7% damage, M about 15%, Q about 25%, and H about 30%. Higher levels make the code denser, so use L or M for long URLs and H when the code might get scuffed or partially covered by a logo.
How to use it
- Type or paste your text or URL into the box โ the QR code updates live as you type.
- Pick an image size. 320 px is fine for screens; use 512 px or more for print.
- Set the error-correction level and, if you like, custom foreground and background colors.
- Adjust the quiet zone (the blank border) โ 2 to 4 modules is the safe standard.
- Click Download PNG and test the code with your phone camera before publishing it.
FAQ
- Is the text I enter uploaded anywhere?
- No. The code is generated entirely in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing you type leaves your device, and closing the tab erases everything.
- Do these QR codes expire?
- Never. This tool makes static QR codes โ the data is baked directly into the image, so it works forever with no account or subscription. The trade-off is that you cannot edit the destination after printing.
- How much text can a QR code hold?
- Up to roughly 2,900 characters at the lowest error-correction level, but shorter is better โ long strings create dense codes that are harder to scan. For URLs, aim for under 300 characters.
- Why won't my colored QR code scan?
- Contrast is too low or the colors are inverted. Keep the foreground clearly darker than the background, and always test a print at final size before mass-producing it.
