๐ How it works & FAQWhat Reverb charges when your gear sells
Reverb takes two bites out of every sale. The first is the selling fee โ 5% of the order total, and the order total includes what the buyer pays for shipping, not just the item price. The second is the payment processing fee โ 2.7% of the order total plus a flat $0.25 per transaction. On a $500 guitar with $25 shipping, that works out to $26.25 in selling fees and $14.43 in processing, leaving you $484.32 before you pay for the shipping label itself.
This calculator adds both fees together, shows your net payout, and โ if you enter what the item and shipping actually cost you โ your true profit and margin. The fee figures are approximate defaults you can edit; check Reverb's current fee schedule, as these are estimates only and not financial advice.
How to use it
- Enter your item price โ the listing price the buyer pays.
- Enter the shipping charged to the buyer. Reverb's fees apply to this too, so it matters.
- Add your item cost (what you paid for the gear) and your actual shipping cost to see profit, or leave them at 0 to just see the payout.
- If Reverb's rates change, edit the selling fee, processing percentage, or fixed fee fields โ results update instantly as you type.
FAQ
- Does the 5% selling fee really apply to shipping?
- Yes. Reverb calculates its selling fee and processing fee on the full order total, including the shipping amount you charge the buyer. Offering "free shipping" and baking it into the price doesn't change the math โ fees hit the total either way.
- What about Bump or Preferred Seller rates?
- Reverb Bump is an optional advertising spend charged separately when a bumped listing sells, and some seller tiers get adjusted rates. Edit the fee fields to match whatever rate applies to your account.
- Are fees different outside the US?
- Payment processing rates vary by country and currency, and currency conversion can add a little more. Plug your region's processing percentage and fixed fee into the editable fields.
- Is my sale data private?
- Completely. The calculator runs entirely in your browser โ no numbers are sent to any server, and nothing is stored.
