Serving Size Calculator
Paste a recipe, tell it how many servings you want, and every ingredient amount scales up or down for you β fractions and all.
π How it works & FAQScale any recipe in seconds
Cooking for a crowd or just for two? The Serving Size Calculator takes the recipe you already have and rewrites every ingredient amount for the number of servings you actually need. Enter how many servings the recipe was written for, how many you want, and paste your ingredient list. Each amount is multiplied by the ratio between the two β so 2 cups of flour for 4 servings becomes 3 cups for 6.
Fractions handled the way cooks write them
Kitchen measurements rarely land on tidy decimals. This tool reads whole numbers, decimals, simple fractions like 3/4, mixed numbers like 1 1/2, and even the typographic fractions (Β½, β , ΒΎ) you copy from websites. Results are snapped back to friendly cooking fractions in eighths, thirds, and quarters, so you get "1 1/2 tsp" instead of "1.5 tsp". Amounts that don't fit a clean fraction fall back to a short decimal.

FAQ
- Does my recipe get uploaded anywhere?
- No. Everything runs in your browser. Your ingredients never leave your device.
- Can it scale down as well as up?
- Yes. Set desired servings lower than the original and every amount shrinks by the same ratio.
- Why did an amount show as a decimal instead of a fraction?
- When a scaled value falls between common cooking fractions, the tool shows a rounded decimal so it stays accurate rather than forcing an odd fraction.
- Are the results exact?
- They're close estimates rounded to practical kitchen measurements. For baking, weighing ingredients on a scale gives the most reliable results.
