๐Ÿ“– How it works & FAQ

What a sponsorship is actually worth

Whether you run a podcast, a newsletter, a YouTube channel, a race team, or a local event, sponsors are really buying one thing: attention. The standard way to price attention is CPM โ€” cost per 1,000 impressions. This calculator uses the classic media-value formula: value = reach ÷ 1,000 × CPM. If a post reaches 50,000 people at a $10 CPM benchmark, the media value is $500. Every rate here is editable, so you can plug in the CPM that fits your channel โ€” podcasts and newsletters often command $20–$50 CPM, while broad social reach may sit closer to $5–$15.

Beyond impressions: engagement and clicks

Raw reach undersells engaged audiences. If your followers actually comment, share, and click, add that value on top. Enter an engagement rate (as a percent of reach) and a dollar value per engagement, and expected clicks with a value per click โ€” $1 per click is a reasonable starting point, since that is roughly what sponsors would pay for comparable ad traffic. You can also add a flat dollar amount for extra deliverables like logo placement, event booths, product mentions, or email shout-outs. The calculator totals everything and suggests a ±25% asking range so you have room to negotiate. Estimates only, not professional or financial advice; real-world rates and fees vary widely by niche and audience quality.

FAQ

What CPM should I use?
Use rates from your niche: roughly $5–$15 for broad social reach, $15–$30 for YouTube, and $20–$50 for podcasts and newsletters with loyal audiences. When unsure, start at $10 and adjust.
Should I use followers or impressions for reach?
Impressions or average views per post. Follower counts overstate reach โ€” sponsors pay for people who actually see the placement.
Why add engagement and click value separately?
CPM only prices eyeballs. An audience that clicks and buys is worth more, and pricing those actions separately justifies a higher rate.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser โ€” nothing is sent to a server.
